Choctaws Fall at ETBU, 84-68; Face LC for Final Playoff Spot Monday

MARSHALL, TX - The Mississippi College men's basketball team fell to East Texas Baptist University, 84-68, on Saturday afternoon at Ornelas Gymnasium.  The loss sets up a Monday night showdown with Louisiana College where the winner will clinch the fourth and final spot in the ASC Tournament.

ETBU took a 43-33 lead into the halftime break after shooting 42% (23-53) from the floor and holding MC to 0-6 from behind the three-point line.

The Tigers jumped out in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 20 points at 67-47 with 10:38 remaining.  The Choctaws would cut the lead to 11 with a 9-0 run before ETBU pulled away for the 16-point win.

The Choctaws were led by sophomore Cameron Bounds with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Juniors Chad Jones and Pierre Hadley each finished with 10 points for MC.

Four of five starters finished in double-figures for ETBU with Jeremy LaGarde leading the way with 19 points.  Josh Chambers (16 pts., 12 reb.) and Deba Egharevba (13 pts., 10 reb.) each recorded double-doubles.

The Choctaws will finish the regular season on Monday night when they host Louisiana College at 7:30 p.m. in the "Golden Dome."  The winner will advance to the ASC Tournament beginning on Friday afternoon in Richardson, TX.
