Albright College's Dave Singleton has been recognized by DIII News for an outstanding season, as the senior guard was named an Honorable Mention All-American selection.
Singleton becomes Albright's first men's basketball All-American since Zac Schaeffer earned DIII News Honorable Mention honors in 2010.
Singleton was a consensus first team All-Region/District choice by ECAC, NABC and D3hoops.com, along with being named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year.
A first team All-Commonwealth selection, Singleton led the conference in rebounding from the guard spot, pulling down 9.8 boards per game. He was second in the conference in assists (5.8 apg) and third in steals (2.3 spg).
Singleton's assist totals ranked him 17th in the nation at the conclusion of the regular season; he was also in the top-50 nationally in rebounds and steals.
He set a new single season school record with 68 steals, and reached 200 steals for his career (including two seasons at Division I High Point University). Singleton became the second D-III player in the nation to record two triple-doubles this year with an 18-point, 11-rebound, 11-assist performance in an ECAC playoff game vs. La Roche.
Along with submitting a triple-double at Lycoming (19 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists), Singleton just barely missed the 10-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist mark in a host of other games, including vs. Alvernia (16-11-8), vs. Widener (8-11-9 in just 25 minutes), at Lebanon Valley (14-12-8), vs. Arcadia (15-13-9) and vs. Stevenson (14-12-9).
Singleton was a four-time conference Player of the Week and twice made D3hoops.com's national Team of the Week. He also earned one ECAC South weekly award.
He totaled 15 double-doubles, and his 169 assists were second in the school single-season record books.
Albright finished the season at 22-7 overall, which was the second-highest win total in school history. The Lions reached the ECAC South championship game, falling in double-overtime to Juniata.
Singleton was one of two Commonwealth Players named to DIII News' All-American team; Lebanon Valley senior Danny Brooks was also an Honorable Mention selection.
