William Paterson Men's Basketball Bested at Home by Ramapo

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (6-9, 1-7 NJAC) fell, 60-51, to Ramapo (4-11, 3-5 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game Jan. 14 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Sophomore Jianni Moran threw a lob to junior Fred Orock Jr. and he finished with the slam to pull WP within one (21-20) with 6:21 remaining in the first half.
  • Ramapo closed out the stanza with an 11-4 run to take an eight-point lead (32-24) into the break.
  • The Pioneers scored nine unanswered points to open the second half, grabbing a one-point advantage (33-32) with 15:27 left to play.
  • The Roadrunners responded with a 22-7 run that spanned 8:25 to go ahead by 14 (54-40).
  • WP trimmed the deficit to single digits on several occasions, but Ramapo held on for the 60-51 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Freshman Demond Kinchen Jr. went 6-of-9 (.667) from the field and 4-of-6 (.667) from deep, finishing with a season-high 17 points to go with six rebounds.
  • Orock Jr. scored nine points and reeled in a team-high 11 rebounds.
