Second Half Surge Not Enough as Beavers Fall in 2012 Finale

NEW YORK – The City College of New York hit a season-high six jumpers from beyond the arc – five in the second half – but the Beavers second-half surge was not enough as the Devils of Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham, 82-45, on Saturday afternoon at Nat Holman Gymnasium.

Syreeta Williams paced CCNY with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting while Latoya Lee and Joyce Li provided a spark off the Beavers bench with 11 points and seven points, respectively. Lee went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and became the first player this season to hit three jumpers from long distance. Li went 2-for-3 from the field as all of her shots came from three-point range.

Sajidah Pressley dished out a season-high seven assists, tying her career-mark pacing the Beavers to 13 assists on 15 made field-goals.

Freshman Bria Fisher was one point and two rebounds shy of posting her third double-double of the season but the forward was a force on the defensive end with three block shots and three steals.

The Beavers return to action on Jan. 4, 2013 for City University of New York Athletic Conference action against Hunter College at 5 p.m.
