No. 21 Women’s Basketball Routs Muskingum on the Road

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The No. 21 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace women's basketball team beat conference opponent Muskingum University by a score of 106-60 at the Anne C. Steele Center.

After a tightly contested first quarter, BW pulled ahead in the second and never looked back. The Jackets shot an unbelievable 59.3% from beyond the arc and 48 of their 106 points came from three-pointers.

BW Leaders (5-2)

  • Senior guard Leah Riley (Cincinnati / Sycamore) dropped a career-high 30 points, adding four rebounds and three assists. Riley went 7-7 from deep, and her 30 points are the highest in a single game by a Yellow Jacket this season.
  • Junior guard Laura McCoy (Newton Falls / Garrettsville Garfield) scored 17 points and led BW with 7 rebounds.
  • Sophomore guard Elise Champagne (Columbia Station/Columbia) scored a career-high 12 points with three three-pointers
  • Women's Yellow Jacket of the Week Alyssa Miller (New Philadelphia) added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Muskingum Leaders (3-3)

  • Claudia Harrington led the team with 13 points
  • Julia Jaenke added nine points
  • Courtney Hivick grabbed a team-high six rebounds

1st Quarter (Muskingum 25-24)

  • Junior guard Ava Wilkerson (West Mansfield / Marysville) scored the Yellow Jackets' first points with an and-one bank shot in the paint
  • Off the bench, Riley led the Jackets with six first-quarter points, shooting 100% from the field
  • Sophomore forward Maddy Stumpf (Johnstown / Big Walnut) dished out two assists

2nd Quarter (BW 24-8)

  • McCoy led the Jackets with seven points while maintaining a perfect FG%
  • Sophomore forward Delaney Garcia (Lakewood / Lakewood) went a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line
  • Riley stayed hot, hitting back-to-back threes at 4:49 and 4:18
  • BW ended the half on a 17-4 run

3rd Quarter (BW 26-13)

  • MillerRileyMcCoy, and Champagne each dropped five points
  • Senior forward Brooke Thompson (Maineville/Little Miami) recorded three blocks

4th Quarter (BW 32-14)

  • Riley capped off her huge night with a deep three
  • Senior guard Ali Menendez (Hudson/Hudson) scored five points
  • BW finished with 47 rebounds to Muskingum's 18
